UNITED STATES ARMY
22 April 1944

Dear Service Club Members:

Received your recent alumnae letter on the 13th of April- I had just been admitted to the station hospital to received treatments for an acute case of Laryngitis. Today is my first of our bed and with temperature back to normal- I hope- the orderly had just stuck a thermometer in my mouth now.

From the address on your envelope, it appears that I have neglected to keep you informed on my changes. We have moved several times since being stationed at Avon Park Fla.

My present address is:

Sgt. Marvin E. Banks, 31143987
478th Bomb Sq. 336th Bomb Gp.
Army Air Field, Lake Charles, La.

I have not received your Easter package yet; it will probably be waiting for me when I return to my squadron upon discharge from the hospital.

Sure do appreciate your packages and also the letters telling about various Bryant Alumnae that are in the Service.

The result of your good work will not be shown in dollars and cents but will show up in the loves of the service men you have cheered on.

Sincerely
Sgt Marvin E. Banks.

March 27, 1943

Dear Service Club Members,

Ten-shun! Yes siree, Bryant Service Club is right on the beam of doing a fine job for their service men.

Many thanks for another surprise remembrance from your club and you can be sure it is always a most welcome surprise. I have not heard of another college keeping in contact with its service men so faithfully. You should be commended for this excellent undertaking.

I found your recent letter very interesting. It is a great source of encouragement to know that the “home front” is backing its armed forces to the limit by making many sacrifices.

In closing shall I say- keep up the good work! Yes, not for a selfish motive, but I can assure you that your gifts are shared with hundreds of our buddies. You can realize to some degree how far reaching your work is.

Gratefully yours,
Marvin E. Banks [Transcription ends]

Dear Service Club Members,

Many, Many thanks for your Yuletide remembrance. It was a very pleasing surprise and enjoyed to the very limit.

My address has changed to:
Corp. Marvin E. Banks, U. S. Army
478th Bomb Sq. 336th Bomb Gp.
Avon Park Bombing Range
Avon Park, Florida

Being located some fourteen miles from town, we do not get in very often to indulge in the delicacies and entertainment of the civilian population. This makes every remembrance received through the mail an extra special event and doubly enjoyable.

Wishing everyone of you a very Merry Christmas and a New Year filled success and happiness, I remain,

Most sincerely yours,
Marvin E. Banks
[Transcription ends]
