To Bryant Service Club,

Thank you very much for the Christmas package of cigarettes.

I also enjoyed receiving your Service Club letter with “On the Campus” and “Alumni Bulletin” enclosed a few days before the package arrived. The Japs didn’t show up today, but we were ready for them out here in “Territory of Hawaii”.

You will notice I have had a promotion and a slight change in address. I’m Personnel Clerk for my home battery here in Headquarters. It is O.K. to use my old address though.

Your Service Club is doing fine work. All of us really appreciate it.

Seasons Greeting to all:

Dear Chairman of Bryant Service Club,

Thank you very much for your letter and package of cigarettes. The mail was forwarded to me from my training camp on the mainland.

I have been out here “somewhere in the Territory of Hawaii” for quite a while and like the life here in the Islands as well as can be expected. Swimming facilities for me are fine. Other recreations are bowling, softball, baseball, volleyball and dancing. My work is in the Supply Room. I use a typewriter quite a lot.

I visited Bryant in May, 1941 seeing many old friends and teachers. Please congratulate Miss Krupa for me. Say “hello” to Mrs. Doe for me. I wish to thank her for the card she sent sometime ago.

Thanks again for your letter and cigarettes.

Sincerely,
Eugene Caldwell
[Transcription ends]
