Dear Friends,

Your Christmas gift package arrived yesterday. You might be interested to know that it was one of the first to arrive at Hut 221. Therefore it was welcomed eagerly by all hands. The candy was quite fresh and very tasty. I say, “was”, because a dozen men, not counting visitors, can make a package disappear “quicker thank anything!”

My thanks, and congratulations to your Service Club. You are doing a fine job. My bunkmates join me in saying, Thank you.

Best wishes, James M. Collier

357th Fighter Squadron
Langley Field, Va.
April 18, 1943

Dear Friends,

Please accept my thanks for the cigarettes you so thoughtly [sic] sent.

I received the “makes” yesterday, although the package was mailed several weeks ago. We move about quite a bit and considerable time elapses before mail catches up with us. In my case the cigarettes were sent to Baton Rouge, La., and I had moved to Langley before they arrived.

I and every other Bryant Service Man, appreciate the splendid work your organization is doing. Thanks again and best wishes.

Sincerely,
James M. Collier [Transcription ends]
