Dear Friends,

Your package arrived in very good condition and wish to thank you for remembering me during the holiday season. After looking at the long list of names you now have, I must say you are doing a big job in grand style. Bryant certainly is doing a big job in the present conflict.

Sincerely,
Walt [Transcription ends]

Dear Friends,

Once more it gives me a great deal of pleasure to thank you for your expression of remembrance. You are certainly doing a wonderful job in keeping in touch with Bryant graduates and bolstering their feelings.

The time has come when I have found classrooms that are much warmer than any Bryant have to offer and August exams haven’t rolled around yet. Yes, it is mighty warm down here and I will be glad when I can spend some time in the cool north in about three weeks.

Sincerely,
Walt [Transcription ends]

Dear Chairman,

I received your ever welcome gift of chocolates after they had traveled all over the south for I have had a change of station and am now with Battery G, 246th C.A., Ft. Story, Va.

Two weeks ago today I had the pleasure of being at Bryant to see most of the “profs” I had and am pleased to say they look the same. So does the school and the students seem to be the same as when I was sweating my way through.

Since I last wrote to you I have also changed my rank in this man’s army. I graduated from Officer’s Candidate School on July 3 and am now a 2nd Lt.

Sincerely,
Walter V. Crawley [Transcription ends]

Dear Service Club,

It seems as though I have neglected my duty to keep you informed on my addresses. They have changed so many times in the past six months that I often have to stop and think what the correct one might be.

Your Christmas wishes took three months to reach me but they were still most welcome as they contained so much interesting news. I never did think Mr. Naylor would take the wonderful step but I guess it is a very easy thing to do these days with men so greatly outnumbered. Even I was able to march down the isle [sic] in September. My favorite strawberry blonde was Dorothy L. Reed, Class of ‘37, before her name was changed.

I did visit college in September late one afternoon. The only person I saw was Dean Gulski working just as hard as ever. I noticed he had female secretaries instead of a male as was the case in the days when. The states certainly did change during the year I was in Iceland.

Sincerely,
Walt Crawley’38 [Transcription ends]
