Dear Students of Bryant:

Yesterday I received your letter, and was very well pleased with all the news it contained. It certainly was swell to know that some of our missing boys have turned up to carry on again, the work they were doing over there.

And I was surprised to find that the list of service men has grown so long. It really creates quite a problem for you who strive, and succeed, so valiently in sending us our gifts. The faculty certainly has held up their own in sending men into the service also.

But that was yesterday. Today I received your Christmas package. Let me thank each one of you individually for your generosity and thoughtfulness. It certainly is gratifying to know that the people at home think of us, and wish us well with your gifts.

I sincerely hope that all your festivities are a huge success in the coming year. How could they be otherwise with such a hard working group?

Thank you again for everything, and a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.

Atlanta, Georgia
July 12, 1943.

Bryant Service Club,
c/o Bryant College,
Providence, R.I.

I received your Memorial Day letter and was pleased to hear of all the wonderful news it contained.

The list you have published of all our men in the Service is most welcome. Often I have wondered where my fellow classmates have gone. I shall write to some of them in the very near future, and wish to thank you for all the effort necessary on your part to enable me to do so.

Please excuse my neglect in not acknowledging receipt of the last package sent to me. At the time I received your gift, my folks were paying me a visit, and in my excitement and joy at having them here I am afraid I forgot all else. But let me assure you that it was no less graciously received than all your other fine gifts and I sincerely appreciate it very much.

My address is still the same except that I have been promoted to Chief Warrant Officer.

Let us all hope that the day of the Bryant Alumni Re-Union is not far off, and that the number of men missing as a result of this war will be few and far between.

Sincerely
Bob Donaldson, ‘40 [Transcription ends]

To all Members of the Bryant Service Club:

I wish to thank each and every one of you for the box of candy that I received yesterday. Just to hear from friends at home is a treat in itself, but to receive such a generous package also—well I just can’t find the words to express my appreciation.

Bryant can indeed be proud of its student body for the sacrifices made in behalf of the alumni now in the service of their country. Let us hope that the day will soon arrive when we can all return and thank you personally for all that you have done for us.

Sincerely,

Bob Donaldson

Dear Students:

Once again I thank each and every one of you for your generosity in sending me a box of candy.

Several of my buddies have told me they realize now that they attended the wrong schools. They, as well as I, think it is very nice to be thought of in that manner. They have never heard of such a spirit in the various institutions they attended.

Let us hope that all the men of Bryant who are now in the service will always be in a position to receive your generous gifts and enjoy them.

Sincerely,

Camp Wheeler, Ga.
Fri., 5/15/42

Dear Friend:

This is to thank you, and every member of your organization, for your kindness and thoughtfulness in sending me a box of chocolates. And also for the latest issue of “On the Campus.” I found the Service Club Notes especially interesting for it showed me where some of my old school chums are now serving.

You may rest assured that this new club is certainly rendering a great service on behalf of our country. There is noting that peps a fellow up as much as knowing that the folks at home have not forgotten him. And it will be this inspired spirit that will carry us through to ultimate victory.

My acknowledgement is rather belated due to the fact that from the 3rd until the 13th of May I was at home in Providence on furlough and just received the package this morning. Had I known of it I certainly would have stopped in personally to thank you for your kindness.

Sincerely yours,

Bob Donaldson
