I just received your letter pertaining too [sic] May 30, I just remembered that I had forgotten to acknowledge the package you sent March 4. We have been on maneuvers in the California desert for two months and are now back at our base.

I was interested to see that Carlo Conti is with the 11th Photo here. I am going over there to look him up to-night.

I wish to thank you very much for the cigs, and I hope to see Carl Conti by to-night.

[Transcription begins]
UNITED STATES AIR FORCES

Private Oliver Edwards
19th Photographic Mapping Squadron

Army Air Base
Colorado Springs,
Colorado

January 18, 1943

Thanks to the Bryant College Service Club for the cigarettes and letter. I got a lift from both.

It sure is great to see such spirit as this behind us; it is one of the few things that helps moral [sic]. Another thing that I feel compelled to mention is the fact that Bryant Students are so far ahead of other college “student bodies” in the country in thinking of the Men in the Service.

This letter is delayed due to the fact that I had a change of Posts since my address was sent to Bryant. It might be interesting to you to know how the Army & Air force moves you about. First it was Fort Devens, Mass. for induction, then to the Air Corps Tech training school at Miami Beach for Basic Training & Classification; from Miami to Lowry Field in Denver Colorado for training in Aerial Photography. Then after seven months of training I was sent to my perminent [sic] squadron here at Colorado Springs. How long we will be here I do not know.

Well there is little more to say except hello to Don Mullen & Jim Moynihan of Tau Epsilon.

Thanks again for cigarettes & Bryant news & letter.

Yours for Victory
Oliver C. Edwards 41’

P.S. Say Hello to Mr. Vinal, Mr. Richards and all the other members of the Faculty for me.
[Transcription ends]
