55th Replacement Battalion
Camp Sutton, North Carolina

July 4, 1943

Members of the Bryant Service Club:

I want to thank all the members of Bryant for the package I received a few weeks ago. I would have acknowledge(d) the receipt of your package then, but do [sic] to my transfer, things have been some what in a state of confusion.

While at Camp Lee this spring I met a Bryant student who was my Fraternity brother while I was attending school. I’ve inclosed [sic] a snap shot of the two of us taken at Camp Lee. I don’t know how many will recognize Rudy Firmbach or my self because we’ve been out of school some time. While he was taking his basic training at Camp Lee we had some good times together.

I’m now a Personnel Sergeant major in the 55th Replacement Battalion. During the month of June I was promoted to Staff Sergeant and transferred here. This Replacement Battalion is in the middle of training now and just as soon as it finishes up we’ll be available for overseas duty.

I again want to thank you for your kindness and send my wishes to all members of Bryant.

Sincerely,
Edward F. Ellsworth
