October 13, 1943

It was certainly a privilege and pleasure indeed to have received your letter, also, the package that was sent to me on March 12, 1943. As a matter of fact the package was forward on to me at Ft. Benning Georgia from Camp Polk, Louisiana.

On June 12, 1943 I was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. being graduated at the Officer’s Training School at Benning.
