Abstract

The U.S. Women and World War II Letter Writing Project consists of more than 175 boxes. Boxes 1-74 include information about the donors of the approximately 30,000 letters written by U.S. women that make up the letter writing archive. Donors are divided into three types: (1) donors who provided information about civilian women; (2) donors who provided information about military women; and, (3) archives that provided information about either civilian or military women. In many instances, the donor was the letter writer herself, her spouse, her children, or another close relative. When letter collections are small, they are integrated into the donor files. When they are large, they are located in separate boxes that are linked to the donor collection.
