Dear Sir;

A few days ago I received from my parents a letter from you regarding the gift sent me last December.

Please accept my apology for the delay in acknowledging the present but so that you may fully understand the situation I want you to know that I have been on basic training the last 2 months and have just completed my training last Saturday. You can be sure that the training was rugged and also the hours of work each day were long leaving almost no time at all for personal affairs.

Your gift was a wise choice and was greatly appreciated and enjoyed. Bryant College is to be commended upon the work it is doing for the service men as I know from personal experience, even though I am not far from home, how nice it is to know you have not been forgotten by old friends.

With best wishes to President Jacob[s], the faculty and the student body. I am

Sincerely yours
Cpl. Frank Garvies
