Ladies + Gentlemen if there are any gentlemen left not in the army.

I am sending you this short note to thank you for the present I received from you the other day.

On the card that was in the package you asked that it be acknowledged and desired to know if it was received before Christmas and also said to let you know if my address changed.

First let me say that my address changed 2 days after you mailed the package and for the next 3 weeks will be

Pvt John Gourlay
Barracks 121 B
Replacement Bn.
Ft Washington, Md.

That will explain the reason for the second statement. I received your package January 1. The package was mailed early enough but it had to chase me half way round the country besides the delay in the readdressing at Ft. Mc Clellan. The package was in good condition when I received it and I wish to thank you very much for it.

Best Wishes to all of you
