24 December 1944
Somewhere in France

Hello:

Since it’s been some time since I’ve heard from you, I thought that perhaps it was because you didn’t have my address.

So - - - - - - here it is:

0-1167012
824th T. B. Bn. Hq. Co.
A. P. O. #758
c/o Postmaster, New York, N. Y.

I would sure like to hear some news about the school, about people I know, and about the faculty.

As for myself, I am “Somewhere in France”, and have been for some time. Censorship regulations forbid my saying too much more.

But, please keep me in mind, and send me the latest gossip.

Respectfully,
Herbert J. Gulliver
HERBERT J. GULLIVER
1st Lt. F. A.

Dear Chairman: --

Received the cigarettes which were sent me by the Service Club. I really appreciate the cigarettes and also the thought behind them.

It certainly is gratifying to know that we, in the service, are still remembered by those whom we have left behind to carry on for us at home.

There is one favor I would like to ask. Could some of the members of the club find time to write, so that our friendship could be furthered?

I sure would like to hear from Mr. Geo. Richards, if he’s still there; and, if he remembers me.

Thanking you again,

Yours very truly,
Herbert J. Gulliver ‘35
1st. LT. F. A.
824th T. D. BN.
Camp Bowie,
Texas
[Transcription ends]

Officer Candidate
Class #23
Ft. Sill, Okla.

June 23, 1942

Mr. Chairman:

Please accept my thanks for the gift of cigarettes from the Bryant Service Club. I deeply appreciate the gift and the thought behind it.

As you no doubt know, I am at the Officers’ Candidate School here and, with continued good luck, will receive my commission July 25, 1942.

Where I will be stationed after graduation, I do not know as yet. But I am hoping it will be much closer to Providence.

Hoping to hear from the Club more often, and hoping I also get a chance to visit the Club and its members.

I remain--

Yours truly,

Cpl. Herbert J. Gulliver
Class of ‘35
