TO:
Bryant Service Club
Bryant College
Providence, R. I.

Italy

Dear Bryant Alumnae,

It was grand of you to be so thoughtful in sending the Christmas package. A fellow way out here does appreciate the fact that his friends do think of him.

True, I should have acknowledged receipt of the package long before this. But, with monthly and annual reports, I have been kept quite busy. My work is of a two-fold nature. That is, I have the duties of first sergeant of Headquarters Detachment and the duties of Battalion Sergeant Major.

What ever happened to the Bryant Alumnae Bulletin that you, at one time, did publish? Really, it would be grand if you did forward one on to me. I am quite interested to know just where and what most of my former class mates are doing.

Is there anything new at Bryant? Who, of the old faculty, do you have left?

My brother, Nat, is now in England with an infantry division. His work is that of regimental supply officer and he is doing very well.

Thanks again for the package and a Happy New Year to you all.

Bryant College Service Club
Bryant College
Providence, Rhode Island
U. S. A.

Dear Friends,

So sorry I have not been able to write as often as I would like. We have been kept on the go, and somehow or other, letter writing has become secondary. But, I just couldn’t pass up writing a letter to you when I received you letter along with the list of our boys in the services.

While in Africa, I met Nat Guy ’39 and Bill Whalley ’38. Both boys are doing fine and we did have a grand time talking about our days at Bryant. Yes, it is a grand old school. The trouble with most of us is that we don’t appreciate it one-half as much as we should. But, we soon realize once we are sent out of the States that we were very fortunate having the opportunity to attend Bryant.

Life out here has not been too hard. As you know, I am a member of a Medical outfit and my duties are those of Personnel Sergeant Major. The work is very interesting and enjoyable. We do eat the best of everything and do lead a very clean life.

I have seen quite a bit of the world and I can truthfully say that there is no place like good old USA. True, some of the scenes out here are worth writing home about but on the whole, they do not even begin to compare with our country.

Thanks again for writing and I do hope that I hear from you soon.

Sincerely,
George

54th Medical Battalion
Camp Edwards, Mass.
December 29, 1942.

Dear Friends,

Thanks so much for the Christmas gift. Honestly, it did help to make my holiday complete. The package arrived in good condition on Christmas Day.

Things have not been half bad for me here in the Army. At the present time I am Personnel Sergeant Major at our Battalion Headquarters. And, I am more or less the accountant for the battalion in that I audit the Company Council Books from month to month.

Thanks again for the gift and the best of luck to all of you.

Sincerely yours,
Tech. Sgt. George Lipschitz [Transcription ends]
