(Somewhere in England)
Hq. W. B. S. Engrs.
A. P. O. 515
c/o PM N. Y. C.
1 April 44.

Bryant Service Club,

Thanks for the letter of Xmas announcements. It arrived rather round about.

For the information of my friends at Bryant I am a 1st Lt. in the Engineers. I would like to hear more from the Class of '36. They don't seem to be making headlines. Maybe it is because they're all married (except me).

I always do enjoy reading the Alumni Bulletin and look forward to receiving it this year even if I am overseas. In fact we enjoy news from home more now.

From your letter you must have sent a Christmas package to me at my Camp Claiborne address. Your thoughts are certainly appreciated but it hasn't arrived yet.

If George Richards, my friend, is still there, give him my regards and tell him that the fishing should be good up in Vermont this Spring because I hear the farmers have all gone to the Connecticut Valley to work in war plants. Ha!

Thanks again for your thoughtful letters and keep up the good spirit until we get back which I hope will be soon.

All the best,
Tom Moran
Class of '36

P. S. You might be interested to know that I met my brother "Ken," Class of '38, in London two weeks ago this morning at 5 a. m. Hadn't seen him in 1 1/2 yr. He is also a 1st Lt. and is stationed in N. Ireland. He has a son born 25 Feb and "Ken" is one proud "old man." What a small world. I spent a couple of days with him.

Bryant College Service Club
Providence, R. I.

Gentlemen:

—Or should I say “Ladies.” Sounds more like a Service Club that way. It was a couple of months ago that I received a package containing small boxes of candy for which I am very thankful indeed. The package followed me around awhile before catching up with me because I was at OCS at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia when I received it. I was a candidate. I received my commission, Corps of Engineers, United States Army on June 9, 1943 as 2nd Lieutenant. I wish you would kindly let the school know so they can see what we Bryant fellows are doing for our country. I am assigned here temporarily as assistant adjutant and S-4, Headquarters 8th Provisional Battalion. I will be assigned permanently soon I hope.

Thanks again for the package sent me.

Sincerely
“Tom” Moran
[Transcription ends]

[Transcription begins]
85th Q. M. Co.
Camp Shelby, Miss.
February 2, 1943

To Whom It May Concern:

I received the enclosed letter today in the mail. I am sorry to have received this letter because I did acknowledge receipt in a card of thanks for the two packages of nice candy which I received several days before Christmas. No doubt my letter to you was lost in the Christmas mail. However, I wish to thank your fine club anew for your thoughtfulness of us boys in the various services of our country, and may I assure you of my appreciation. Please be informed that the name and address on your letter was my old civilian address, and not my father’s address, which is:

Mr. T. H. Moran
Jericho, Vermont

That is the reason this letter has been forwarded to me.

I saw Mr. Richards while on my furlough in January and told him that I had received the package from the club.

Yours sincerely,
Thomas W. Moran
[Transcription ends]
