[Transcription begins]
MRS. CHARLES A. NEWTON
81 NO. PEARL STREET
MERIDEN, CONN.

October 10, 1942

Bryant Service Club:

The address of Edward Newton, at the present is as follows:

Sergeant Edward W. Newton 11032984
351st Quartermaster Co. A.P.O.—942
Seattle Washington

Omit Fort Lewis)

Edward left the States on May 17. He is located in one of the possessions of the United States.

It takes about a month for packages which we send to reach him, sometimes a little longer, but eventually he receives them all.

When I write Edward I will ask him if he received the package sent June 9th by The Bryant Service Club. Edward is usually very prompt in his acknowledgements.

Our air mail letters reach him in from four to six days. We receive his letters in about a week. A little longer time on account of having to be censored.

Whereever [sic] Edward is, we don’t know the base, he says everything is pleasant and he is feeling especially well.

I think it fine for Bryant to do these things for their boys, and I am sure the boys appreciate it.

Sincerely
Iva M. Newton
[Transcription ends]

Chairman, Bryant Service Club
Bryant College, Providence, R.I.

Dear Sir:

The box of candy sent to the above address, by the Service Club, arrived safely intact and was greatly appreciated indeed.

That and “On the Campus” which arrived today have brought my thoughts back to my school days! Everything is so fast and exciting that we have nearly no time at all to retrace our past memories.

May I again thank you all.

Sincerely,

Corporal Edward W. Newton, “40” [Transcription ends]
