Plaques near the Archway read:

"The Archway, formerly used as the entrance to South Hall on the East Side Campus, was moved to the Tupper Campus through the generosity of the Class of 1968, as a link between the old campus and the new. Tradition dictates that to pass through before commencement day is bad luck."

"Archway
dedicated to the Bryant Community
by the Class of 1968"

Description

From The Archway, Page 4, June 14, 1968:
"The Class of '68, after much deliberation, announced that it will start a trust fund earmarked for the purpose of constructing an Archway at the new Tupper Campus. When work commences on the new buildings, there will be no link with Bryant's past at the Hope Street campus. The Class Gift Committee feels that such a link could be in the form of an Archway ... For complete details see either Barry Lebowitz or Joann Lambert, committee members."
