The Class of 1977 senior class gift campaign was led by Michael Hammer. Funds raised were used to beautify the "front circle" and for general College purposes. The "front circle" no longer exists due to the development of a campus quad after the year 2000.

The George E. Bello Center for Information and Technology housing the Douglas and Judith Krupp Library and the Bulldog Bytes Cafe opened in September 2002. Many thanks to the Class of 2002 for providing technology and furnishings for this highly visited and much appreciated area.

On February 11, 2009 the Class of 2009 unveiled their class gift – two new bulldog statues to adorn one of the entrances to the Bulldog Stadium. This gift signified a new era of athletic competition for the University as Bryant was making the transition to Division I athletics. The gift was determined by a vote of the senior class.

This announcement was part of the second Senior Class Gift Campaign Week sponsored by the Class Gift Committee. Seniors were invited to visit a table set up each day in the Rotunda from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to make a donation. Students who contributed $20.09 (in honor of their class year) or more were invited to a Champagne Toast during Senior Week. Students who gave $50 or received a Bryant water bottle. All students who donated were entered in daily raffles for Dunkin Donuts, Target, Stop & Shop and gas gift cards. They also received a coupon for a free coffee, tea, or hot chocolate at the Scoop.

The campaign got off to great start at a kickoff celebration held at the end of October 2008 when more than $12,000 was raised in one night. The goal was $35,000.

President Machtley provided an extra incentive for this class to make donations. He challenged the Class of 2009 by stating that if there was a 50 percent class participation rate he would jump into the campus pond.

The 2009 Senior Class Gift Campaign was an astounding success and raised $35,003 in gifts and pledges with 414 student donors, garnering 51% participation from their class, surpassing both their financial and participation goals. This was the highest participation from a senior class and broke the record for the highest number of student donors ever from a senior class.

So during senior week on May 13, 2009 at 11am President Machtley jumped into the pond with cheers from the fantastic Class of 2009 and the Bryant Community.

“The class gift is important because it helps us leave a legacy on campus,” says Normand Duquette (Rehoboth, MA), one of the three Senior Class Gift Committee chairs along with Hannah Jorgensen (Spruce Head, ME) and Anne Koskey-Wagoner (Lynn, MA).

From a letter to Mr. Joseph Hagan from Mr. Kenneth Cedergran dated February 1, 1971: "The Class of 1971 is to be asked to continue a pledge program [started by the Class of 1970]" to support the remodeling of the Captain Joseph Mowry House for the purpose of creating an Alumni Center located on the newly constructed Smithfield campus. The class gift was to be announced on June 11, 1971 on Class Day. The actual decision of the Class of 1971 was not posted in the Archway Commencement edition.

From The Archway, Page 1, July 11, 1958: "The Senior Class gift will be an eight speaker high fidelity set that will be installed in Jacobs Hall in the near future, Senior class officers announced yesterday." Jacobs Hall on Bryant's former Providence campus was dedicated on June 7, 1958. This building included a library, dining halls for faculty and students, and classrooms -- including a typewriting classroom. It is assumed that the Hi-Fi system was for the student dining hall.

On Friday, February 1, 2008 President Ronald K. Machtley and Senior Class Gift Committee Cochairs Michael Oliveri ’08 (North Grafton, MA) and Michelle Sobol ’08 (Coventry, CT) announced plans to raise money to refurbish the historic Archway as part of the senior class gift. The Class of 2008 ended up raising $31,000 in support of this important restoration. The project, which was completed during the summer of 2008, included improvements to the walkways on both sides of the Archway. The Archway, which framed the main entrance to South Hall on Bryant’s East Side campus, was the gateway through which all graduates passed on Commencement Day. The wrought-iron arch, dedicated to the Bryant community by the Class of 1968, was moved from the old campus in Providence to Smithfield in 1971. Today it serves as a visible link between the old and new campuses. Tradition dictates that to pass through the Archway before your commencement is bad luck. The Class of 1987 donated the walkways around the Archway to encourage students to honor this tradition.

Alumni Wall is a stone wall along the brick walkway which crosses the quad connecting the George E. Bello Center with the Unistructure. The Class of 2000 wished their gift to be a part of the new quadrangle that would fulfill part of the new Campus Master Plan. The Class of 2007 raised money to renovate the space housing the former Junction in the townhouse area to transform it into a community space for seniors. “When you move down to the townhouses, you get disconnected from many of the events and resources happening in the center of campus,” Amr Zawawi ’07 (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia), chair of the Senior Class Gift Committee, told the Archway. “A place like this will help class unity and create a social space for seniors.” “Seniors have needed a community space for a long time where they can unite as class,” added Hope Solomos ’07 (New Bedford, MA) one of the committee members. The drive for donations started in October at the Senior Class Gift Kickoff. Seniors enjoyed a night of food and fun with a live band, Orange Jam Conspiracy, which attracted over 180 seniors – setting a record for the event. That night alone the committee raised about 50 percent of their $15,000 goal and spent the spring semester asking their fellow seniors to make donations. “I found it important to give back to Bryant because Bryant has transformed me into the person I am today,” said Solomos. Another committee member, Kevin Field ’07 (Easton, MA), said that while it is not easy to ask your fellow students for money, “we are selling what the gift means to the school not necessarily the donation.” “It is real life experience and something I can put on a résumé and talk about in an interview,” he said. Zawawi described Bryant as his home-away-from-home and said the gift will help foster a relationship with Bryant’s newest alumni that will last long past Commencement Day. “The gift will commemorate the class’s accomplishments and hopefully start a personal tradition of philanthropy to Bryant,” said Zawawi. Other committee members included Eileen Hayes '07 (Neconset, NY), Sarah McDonnell '07 (South Berwick, ME), and Adam Muccino ’07 (Chepachet, RI).
