Dear friends,

The package you sent me arrived a few days ago, and I want to thank you again or your thoughtfulness. It was forwarded from my previous station in good condition.

As you gather from my address, I am not located at the airstation [sic] down here in Virginia. My work concerns procurement of aviation materials, and similar phases of supply.

There’s plenty of things to do and sights to see, but you can be sure I’m looking forward to getting back to New England some day, and to that life that I once thought was monotonous. Anyway, they tell me that if I stay in for about fifty years. I ought to have something saved up to fall back on.

Your friend,
Marty Shapiro [Transcription ends]

Bryant Service Club,

Thanks very much for the box of candy which you recently sent me. One always likes to be remembered. I also got your letter telling me of the news and personalities of Bryant.

As you gather, I’m still located in “Ol Virginia”. Things are all running along smoothly, and so – all is well.

Dear friends,

I want to thank you for the two boxes of candy which you sent me awhile back. The boys and myself made short work of them. I was happy to know I was still remembered.

I also received the school papers and I will say they did recall some remembrances of those college days. It was quite impressive to know that so many of the boys from school are in the service. I, for one, can say that my schooling is helping me get ahead. You can be sure that I’m learning a lot more, though it may not all come under the head of schooling.
