WAVES

12 April, 1944

Dear Service Club Members:

Received my Easter Package today in good condition and thanks loads.

It really is wonderful of you all to remember us and we certainly do appreciate your thoughtfulness. It is Cherry Blossom time in Washington, and a wonderful sight it is. Do wish each and everyone of you could see them. Easter Sunday there were people here to see the Cherry Blossoms from miles around. My Easter was a very pleasant one although I wasn’t at home. Maybe next year?

Thank you for my Bryant letter that I received this week too with all the information. I enjoy hearing from you.

Will close now with best wishes to you all.

Sincerely,
Doris Wellman, Y2/c
U.S.N.R. (W)

Address:

Dear Sir

Quite some time past I received a blank from your Service Club with Doris Wellman(‘s) address to be filled in so you could remember her with cookies and candy.

She visited us last weekend and said she had never received any gifts from the college.

Thinking there is a mistake, I am repeating her address which is as follows:

Doris Wellman Y 3/C
Waves Quarters - E - Room E-208
California Hall
Arlington Farms
Virginia
U.S.N.R.-W.

I am sure she will appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Signed her mother.
Mrs. Clarence H. Wellman
104 Bank St.
Attleboro, Mass.
[Transcription ends]

Doris Wellman, Y3/C
U.S.N.W.R.
WAVE Quarters E
California Hall
Room E-208
Arlington Farms, Va.

December 19, 1943

To All Bryant Service Club Members:

Just a note to thank you all for the wonderful Christmas package I received. It arrived in excellent condition.

As I am waiting until December 25th to open it, I just want to say I know I will like and appreciate what is inside. It certainly is thoughtful of you all to remember former students of Bryant.

A service club such as you people have organized takes many members, time and money to keep running smoothly, but you can bet we all realize that and appreciate to the utmost the thoughtfulness behind it all.

Your Christmas letter also arrived, and many names mentioned in it were familiar to my eyes, as a number of the girls and fellows now in different parts of the world were classmates of mine. A letter such as this brings back to the memory some of the great times we had while going to Bryant.

My graduation year was 1941, so, therefore, I am afraid I do not know many of the students now, but when and if I ever do get a leave Bryant will be one of my visiting places while at home.

Thank you again for all you have done, and a MERRY CHRISTMAS and best wishes for the New Year to each and every student and member of the faculty at Bryant.

Sincerely,

Doris Wellman, USNR(W)
