Bryant Service Club
Bryant College
Providence 3, R. I.

18 Feb 45

Am very sorry I haven’t acknowledged receipt of your nice Christmas package sooner. It arrived in perfect condition and it helped morale a lot to know that someone was still remembering us fellows in the service in spite of the fact we are strangers to them.

As usual we are very busy here. I am working in the Personnel office and my splendid training at Bryant is still helping me out. I will never forget the fun I had while I was there in 1938 – 40.

Time passes so quickly that it is hard to realize I have almost completed 3 years of Army life. Hope it doesn’t hit six years. Thanks again for the package you sent.

Sincerely,
S/Sgt. A. F. Wiesner, Jr.
[Transcription ends]

I wish to say “hello” from the Patterson Field front. Everything is under control out here and operations are proceeding as planned. Seriously friends, I wish to say thanks for the lovely gifts that keep coming my way. I realize I am very lax where correspondence is concerned but please excuse it.

I spent a few days in Rhode Island last month. It’s amazing what a furlough does for a fellow!! Wish I could give you some news but everything is quite [sic] out here.

Dear Club Members:

Just a line to let you know I received your letter and gift and to offer my appreciation for both. The club is doing a wonderful job considering the mounting obstacles they must be finding as the time goes by.

Out here life goes on much the same as usual work, eat and sleep. It is a good life but we are all anxious to get the job done so we can get home to the ones we love.

Sincerely
Sgt. Albert Wiesner
[Transcription ends]

1st Ind

Station Hospital, Patterson Field, Fairfield, Ohio February 21, 1943.
TO: Bryant College Service Club, Bryant College, Providence, Rhode Island.

The enclosed letter was forwarded to me by my parents and I wish to apologize for not acknowledging receipt of the lovely Christmas package that the Service Club sent me. I thought I had acknowledged your gift but it is very possible that I slipped up on answering as I had so much Christmas mail.

My training at Bryant College is prooving [sic] its worth during these trying times. At present I am Pay Roll Clerk besides taking care of War Bonds, Insurance and Allotments. My Tax knowledge has come in handy more than once during the past month. As a special service I have been helping both Enlisted Men and Officers with their Income Tax returns and have earned quite a nice reputation. The teaching staff at Bryant College had a lot to do with this as it gave me the necessary background to go out into the world and cope with its many problems.

Please accept my belated thanks for your Christmas gift. Your club is doing a wonderful job and is really appreciated by the boys in the service. I have definite proof as I correspond quite regularly with a few boys who graduated from Bryant College with me in 1940.

Dear Chairman

Received your package at a time when it did the most good. I am sick in the hospital and the box of candy really hit the spot. Your kindness is appreciated very much.

Everything is going smoothly at this field. My only complaint is that I have to lay in bed where I’m not doing a bit of good.

Say hello to the faculty for me and also give my congratulations to the graduating class of 1942 for their splendid work in organizing the Bryant Service Club. It is something to be proud of and you can be sure the Alumni appreciate it.

Sincerely yours
