Dear Dr. Jacobs-

Yesterday we received word from our Bob he has completed his missions over Germany, and he has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross by General LeMay of the Eight Air Force in England.

He had been overseas since last August serving as Radio Operator, and Ball Turret gunner on a B17 Flying Fortress, which is a very tough spot. We look for him to come home soon and he may decide to go down East and pay you a visit. According to pictures he sent he looks good, and he says he feels fine. Mrs. Connor and I thought you and his teachers might like to hear this news. Our best wishes to you, and all his other friends in Providence.

Yours truly
