The Global Trade Summit, formerly World Trade Day, is Rhode Island’s leading event on international trade, uniting business leaders, government officials, and academics to share strategic insights and foster collaboration. It provides attendees with the tools and resources to navigate global commerce and enhance competitiveness. The event promotes economic growth by connecting local businesses with global markets, supporting sustainable development, and strengthening the state’s economy. It also bridges academia and industry, engaging students and faculty in discussions that link academic theory with real-world business challenges.
The Global Trade Summit was launched as World Trade Day in 1985 by Ray Fogarty and a group from the World Trade Club in Providence.
