84th ORDNANCE MM BATTALION (Q)

Somewhere in Canada
December 21, 1942
Monday

Dear Bryant friends,

I’m not going to make any formal statement or a long drab speech, but I’ll just say from the bottom of a fellows heart that I appreciate very much your thoughtfulness in remembering me. The package arrived in good order, although it went all over the country following me.

In the Canadian Northwest where there is nothing but prairies and wilderness to look at, and where the temperature hits forty to fifty below zero—you can understand how us fellows appreciate thoughtfulness. There is plenty of wild game up here with the emphasis on deer, so we aren’t so bad off after all.

I’ll close this brief letter by saying Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.

Thanks again—they were swell.

Sincerely
John Gudavich
