UNITED STATES NAVY
June 10th [1942]
Dear Miss Blaney
You asked, “How soon do you leave Newport?” I’m afraid that answer will have to be avoided--but I can say that our training does not officially end until a week from today. I have been told concerning my next destination but that is considered a military secret.
I believe anything you would send to this station would be forwarded to me directly as I’m scheduled for school. However, if I was headed for Sea I doubt if I’d get the package.
I just hope everyone is as happy at Bryant as I am here.
Yours truly,
Edward Healey
P.S. Thanks loads for remembering a soul of the likes of me. [Transcription ends]
