Abstract
In my thesis, I seek to understand what the challenges managers with disabilities face in the workplace are and how companies can create more inclusive and accommodating work environments for these individuals. I also want to uncover whether or not the corporate culture of companies with employees with disabilities have a higher level of empathy within their corporate culture. I will be examining the role and complexities of identity for an employee with a disability, as well as how the current corporate hiring practices and common organizational structures create obstacles for those with disabilities, especially when it comes to elevated roles, such as managers, directors, and executives. The purpose of this research is to understand the challenges faced by this small, marginalized group to educate myself and others in order to create a more inclusive corporate environment.
Comments
