Abstract

Worldwide:

* 1,000 people a day are killed by small arms (handguns; rifles; shotguns)

* Five times as many are seriously wounded

* 875 million small arms in the world today, with 8 million new guns added to the stockpile each year (Note: guns don’t wear out)

* International trade in small arms (and ammunition) is a $7 billion+ industry
