To the Bryant Service Club,
Many thanks for the lovely box of candy which I received the day before Easter. I was at the time at Iowa State Teachers’ College finishing up my Yeoman course. We had graduation April 24. After graduation I went home for a week and reported here at Washington Thursday afternoon.
Upon arrival here we received some mail which had been forwarded from Iowa and your letter was one of those. I certainly did enjoy it and remembered last year when I too was helping type some of the letters being sent all over. At the time I don’t believe I ever thought I would be receiving one. However, I have and enjoyed it very much.
While at Iowa State I ran into Ethel WaGew and also Janet Wallenthum with whom I had a grand talk. Janet hopes to get over to Bryant during her leave.
Since my arrival here I ran into Ruth Kessell and from your letter I see she got over to see everyone at Bryant.
We weren’t greeted with very nice news upon our arrival here, for the first news we heard was that of President Roosevelt. It doesn’t seem possible yet. He was a great man.
I do want to thank you again for the box of candy and the letter and wish you lots of luck in any new undertakings.
Sincerely,
Elaine Male
