Thank you for the generous gift of cigarettes I received this afternoon. To say the least, I was both surprised and gratified to find that my Alma Mater is taking such an interest in it’s [sic] graduates who are in the service.

I have been here at Maxwell Field now for three weeks and next week will shed the title of zombie and don the fangs and claws of an upperclassman. After my pre-flight training is completed here I am looking forward to Primary Flight School.

Again, I would like to express my appreciation and thanks for your kind gift.

Yours for Victory
