Gentlemen:

I wish to thank you for the very nice letter and package of cigarettes I received a week ago. I certainly makes one feel much better when receiving a present from friends back home.

Our routine here takes so much of our time that even finding time to write letters is a hard problem. Some days we’re on duty for 24 hours and then again we might be on for anywhere from 12 to 16 hours without a break. For that reason and now that we are having Technical Training and a great deal of studying evenings is required there is little time left for anything else.

The subjects I took at Bryant certainly have helped me a great deal during my four months in the Army.

Of the sixty men in my barracks, five of them have attended Bryant. It makes us feel acquainted just by having that one thing in common.

Thanks again for remembering a Bryant student.

Sincerely,

Pvt. Charles H. Tompkins [Transcription ends]
