About
Experienced Dean and Professor of History with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. As an historian, his interests were primarily with the history of science and technology. Those interests took him into European history and the history of American industrialization. He also had the opportunity to spend several years consulting on technology transfer and economic development projects as a consultant of Mohawk Research Corporation. He has strong education and professional skills in academic administration, nonprofit organizations, global education, student development, and student academic services.

About:
Gaytha Langlois was a Professor in the Science & Technology Department at Bryant University. She has wide experience in leading teams addressing public policy for sustainable systems and environmental management. Her scientific endeavors have included studies of endangered redwoods in China, Arctic ecosystems, coral reef ecosystems, grasslands in Inner Mongolia, the after-effects of the Chernobyl accident in Belarus, and oil pollution in New England coastal waters. Gaytha was one of four women hired at Bryant College in 1970 to teach a traditional academic subject. She was also the first woman hired at Bryant College who held a Ph.D. She was the co-director of the Center for Sustainable Business Practices and Chair of the Department of Science and Technology from 2008-2014 and again in 2017-2018. Langlois helped to create new academic programs in Environmental Science and Biology, and collaborated with colleagues to envision new laboratory facilities, research programs, and faculty recruitment needs. Gaytha has traveled extensively in China and Tibet as part of Bryant’s global initiatives, and has served as an elected municipal official and on statewide boards and commissions. She is also involved with the International Society of Protistologists and was President of the organization from 2019-2021.
