Description
Participants will become familiar with those health strategies specific to women according to established age-specific guidelines in the following areas: cardiovascular health, osteoporosis, preventive care, and cancer screening. Participants will also be able to identify early risk/warning factors and the resources available to address the health care issues discussed.
FACILITATOR: Deb Nelson, Assistant Vice President of Health Promotion, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island
Assistant vice president of health promotion for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island. She is responsible for managing the Good Health Benefit, a national award winning worksite wellness program. She also develops and manages prevention and demand management initiatives for health insurance products. Previously, Ms. Nelson worked at the Pawtucket Heart Health Program where she focused on the cost effectiveness of worksite health promotion programming.
SPEAKERS: Staff from Women & Infants Hospital
Karen Kazin, BS, RN, is a community health educator in the health education department of Women & Infants Hospital. Her areas of expertise include women's wellness programs in the workplace. In addition, she has an extensive background in clinical and educational breast health care programs for women. She has served as a facilitator for the Reach to Recovery breast cancer program since 1989.
Dede McGuire, MS, RN, COHN-S, is the director of New England's Wellness Program. A Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist and a Certified Case Manager, she currently serves as treasurer of the Associated Rehabilitation Professionals and board member of Bayside Family Healthcare Services, Inc. She previously served as director of Kent County Memorial Hospital's Occupational Health Department.
