20" x 24", oil painting. Artist: Salnave Philippe-August, (b. 1908, Haiti - d. June 2, 1989, Port-au-Prince, Haiti.) Salnave was a lawyer and magistrate who wrote books on law and poetry. He began painting at 52 to support the education of his seven children. He was known for his jungle scenes like this painting, but he also painted still-life, carnival scenes, and the street markets of Haiti.
